Good food. Good prices. Will be going back!

I love their Mexican food especially the carnitas, but some time, try their hamburger with cheese combo. It's surprisingly good and is my favorite place to go if I want a burger. Yeah yeah...I know. You say Mexican food that serves burgers? Heck ya! It's just the one burger.

Very friendly service with good burritos. Be careful ... "big food" warning!

I go out of my way to eat there - best crunchy tacos around, great service.

Excellent food at a reasonable price. It's been here a long time, which in this area should tell you something!

I grew up in Pasadena and have been coming here for over 40 years, starting back when the stretch of Colorado Blvd. around Fair Oaks was full of huge used book and antique stores. The Free Press Bookstore was cattycorner to El Torreo and Jakes Diner was still just a little shack and Ernie Junior's Mexican restaurant was further down the block. El Torreo is one of the LAST remaining businesses in what has become the hipster heaven that is Old Town Pasadena. Not much has changed over the years other than the juke box and some of the pictures on the wall. I love the old poster of American Presidents with the "current" President the largest rendering placed in the center: JFK. My favorite is the chile verde burrito a la carte that I smother in their blazing green hot sauce. Great vibe, great old neon sign out front and great, classic LA Mexican food. Enjoy a taste of authentic Old Town Pasadena!

They have great Casadella Asada for a reasonable price comparing the area. I love it and eat there almost every day.

Good comfort food in an unpretentious dining room. I ordered the number two (taco, enchilada and chile relleno) plate and was happy with it.

If I had a Mexican grandmother and she had a restaurant then it would be El Toreo;) Super nice food and even better service. Very fairly priced as well. Loads of charm!

Extraordinarily average. Decent waitress with short temper, clean restaurant, definitely give it a try if you're wanting to, but for someone with taste buds similar to mine, maybe more Americanized, it likely won't be for you. I ordered the burrito plate and guacamole. The guac was good I think, but the rest was borderlining bland, it didn't taste anything like I expected it to, it was a bit sweet and sour actually, kind of awkward. Maybe this is more authentic, but it didn't appease someone like me, which is why I'm not saying it's a bad place in general. Now I am saying, it's not worth the price. By the time you get a drink (only 1 refill) and tip, you might as well eat at a popular taco truck (my preference), or even El pollo loco which you're guaranteed to find something you like for cheaper. So I won't be returning, personally, they had a few happy customers there, clearly repeats, who I'm sure think differently.

Very sweet service and good food.

What a cool spot. Great food, better price, and way more than we could eat. I couldn't even finish my ice cold beer, because I was so full. Homemade salsa verde and chips to start, and great tacos and enchiladas to finish. If I ever make it back to Pasadena, I'm going there for sure. The service was excellent, and the decor was out of this world. Well, out of this era, anyhow.Loved it.

We are Chicago natives and lodged at the Hilton in Pasadena.Being a Chicagoan I've always had some of the greatest selection of restaurants dvds let me just say that I hope I don't upset my mother but this place has finger licking food. Why are the portions so generous and at a great value I just don't know. Very friendly service and great atmosphere.

They're very accommodating when we told them one person in our party was a vegetarian.

This place basically sells canned and reheated "Mexican food". Cannot believe how poor the food was in quality. I will never go again. Plus, I did not have a fun time on the toilet the next day.

Great hole in the wall, been there forever. Seems pricey for a hole in the wall, but big portions and very authentic
Maggie Brito

Came here for a work lunch and ordered a tostada and it was some of the best Mexican food I've had in LA. The price was fair for the giant portion sizes and the complimentary chips and salsa were much appreciated. My tostada was perfect. The flavors were wonderful. Everyone in my party loved their food. Do yourself a favor and go!

Small place. Clean and good service. The food is good. I like ground beef for tacos instead of shredded. The waitress lady is wonderful!

Wonderful service, great ambient, and outstanding food. A little noisy and small, but well worth the sacrifice as its meals are outstanding. Well recommended and will be repeating soon.

I ordered the shredded beef crunchy tacos. They were delicious. They also feed you chips with salsa while you wait for your order. Will be coming back again for more tacos.

I have been eating at El Toreo and it’s sister La Cita (now closed) for about 35 years. Always a great meal. Service with a smile. Fair prices. The restaurant in Pasadena is so old school that a poster of American presidents shows the current president to be Kennedy.
